Qualities of radio

The key concepts of radio, according to Hugh Chignell are as follows.

• Intimacy 
• Co-presence 
• Liveness

These in combination create all radio qualities and a presentable radiophonic piece. But I would like to think of these around my radiophonic project.

The first thing that stands out, is my piece is recorded live and instantly ticks that off. To feel like you’re there, more background noise could have been added but because the piece is live, its as if you’re there. For similar reasons, this gives my project a more intimate feeling. Using a small hall reverb reduces the space of the piece, making it more intimate and I believe the short introduction at the start also helps with this.
