Sound Studies & Aural Cultures

Audio paper description

Whilst most battles are fought with guns, artillery and other physical devices, sound has been prominent in war. Whilst most accounts are of sound boosting of harming morale, even being the bible in Joshua 6:20 discussing how trumpets blew down a wall. Sound is now being used as a physical weapon, physically hurting those who hear it. This audio paper, titled “The history of sonic weapons and their uses today” focuses on the mostly unheard sonic weapons used in the modern-day and how we got here. Discussing historic weapons such as the nazis horrific “Schallkanone” developing into the modern-day “Long-Range Acoustic Device” used in riots and supposed attacks on the government.

Looking at the example websites, I looked into their descriptions and how they’re structured to attempt to create something in a similar vein. They include similar parts, an intro, an explanation of the topic and how the topic is related to the episode or paper.

Using this structure, I made the description above, which will be edited over time.
