Guitar interference

During my composition, I wanted to create a drone using guitars. My first idea was to have 100% wet guitars playing the riff and my second was to record guitar interference and turn this into a drone.

For the second drone, I placed my telecaster next to my amp and recorded the interference. I chose my telecaster because of its single-coil pickups, which don’t reduce noise, unlike humbuckers. On this track, I used an amp plug-in (Neural DPS Gojira), a compressor and Valhalla’s supermassive reverb. using the Gojira plug-in, I was able to use 2 octave pedals to have 4 octaves of range, two below and one above the noise. Below is a video of how this sounds and also how I set it up

My guitar interference drone

While I really enjoy how this sounds, I decided to go with the guitar riff with this reverb, as they provide tonality while this interference drone is mostly noise. But looking back at this, I believe this would work well in a live setting to create a constant drone under the performer.
