VR reflection
A couple weeks ago, I was able to try out an Oculus headset for the first time. While I tried to use this with Oculus, it wasn’t working. Instead, I decided to try some VR games on it. I linked the Oculus quest up with steam and played Aircar, The Lab and Superhot. Aircar is a cyberpunk-themed car game where you can drive anywhere you want, including vertically. This game gave me intense motion sickness but was still enjoyable, but basic. The Lab is by Valve and is meant to be the first game you play on VR. There were many minigames to try but none were exceptional, despite this I had a good time trying out all the activities. Finally, Superhot is the final VR game I tried, was the only one I paid for and was the best. The premise is simple, time moves only when you move, and with this skill, you have to get through hoards of enemies. This was an amazing game in VR and is an amazing use of VR, having to move all over the place to dodge bullets, looking around to see all the enemies around you, hearing bullets fly by your ears and seeing more come at you. This was an extremely fun experience and I really enjoyed playing this game.
Despite not being able to mix with the Oculus headset, I was able to use VR for the first time in my life. I really enjoyed it and might have to look into getting a VR headset. Along with this, I’m excited for the future of VR, as I believe it can only get better from here.
