The evolution of sonic Weapons

(the initial title was: How the Nazis manipulated sound)

This is the working title for my audio paper, but how did I get here?

Whilst at the Shilpa Gupta installation, there was a piece of paper talking about how Russia attempted to ban the Tar, a traditional folk instrument. This made me think about how over time, humanity has attempted to control sound either by banning certain instruments and genres or creating propaganda. Many cultures and societies have banned music/instruments, but none more prolific than nazi Germany; banning multiple genres and instruments, creating propaganda sound machines to play wherever and whenever or even their sound design in V1/V2 bombs. There were so many interesting sound choices they made I felt like dedicating the entire paper to them.

Update:

After my tutorial, a subject I looked at which is related to this topic came up, sonic weapons. Looking into this subject further, I quickly became intrigued with this subject and history. While thinking about if I should change the topic of my paper, I considered the analysis and personal opinions I could provide for the two. Considering the first topic is on the nazis, and the second one isn’t, I have a chance of finding silver linings in the second topic. Alongside this, sonic weapons have not been documented much, meaning I’m more inspired to create this.
