Blade Runner 2049 Audio-Visuals

I was initially brought to this film for my audio-visual project due to its visuals. I adore its cinematography and lighting, creating some beautifully creative scenes. Alongside this, its soundtrack was intriguing, due to its predecessor being so famous.

Audio

This film has different settings to the original, bring new sounds with it

Used a lot of strings and synthesisers. I wish more synthetic sounds were used in this score, but I also understand that they did not want to recreate the original soundtrack.

Lots of vocals were used (choir and throat singing), especially in Wallace’s palace. I also heard Tibetan bowls at Wallace’s palace.

Lots of scenes had no soundtrack, allowing the reverberated vocals cut through the mix, normally with some faint noise in the background.

The final fight scene contained a soundtrack, unlike the rest of the movie.

Visuals

The use of lighting in 2049 created beautiful scenes, ranging from monotones storms with neon blasting on Joes face, to red dust landscapes with no change in its effect, to yellow lines in a bronze brutalist monolith. Picking any scene from this film could easily inspire my project.
